When creating a file that
you will be sending us please
follow the following guidelines.
Photoshop should only be
used for files that will be
printed in 4 color or 1 color.
All files must be created
at 300 dpi, this must start
out at this resolution as you
cannot take a lower resolution
and scale it to 300 dpi. (It
will be blurry if you do this.)
When you open Photoshop and
start a new document you can
change the resolution and size
and color mode to what you want
to work in.
If you already have your document
open you can manually change
the resolution by Image ->
Image Size. Constrain Proportions
and Resample image should be
checked so you will not change
the dimensions of the document,
just the resolution.
Black files:
Be sure that your document
is set to Grayscale when you
begin to design your document.
Image -> Mode -> Grayscale
4-color files:
Be sure that you document
is set to CMYK when you begin
to design your document.
Image -> Mode -> CMYK
If your document bleeds you
must pull your bleeds 1/8 of
an inch from the edge of your
document.
The easiest way to pull bleeds
in Photoshop is to start out
with a document that is the
1/4 inch bigger vertically and
horizontally than your final
document. Then, draw guides
1/8 of an inch from the edge
of the piece on all sides. The
guides are where the edge of
your piece will be cut, but
you pull all colors and pictures
out past that guide. It is also
good to note that you should
not put anything touching these
guides other that what will
bleed. Text and picture edges
and all design elements that
do not bleed should be at least
1/8 of an inch inside your guides.
This is shown on the PDF templates
on the previous page.
Once you have finalized your
design and are ready to send
it to us for print please flatten
the document and save. Layer
-> Flatten Image. DO NOT
SAVE OVER YOUR UNFLATTENED DOCUMENT.
If you save over your document
it can no longer be edited.
Save your document and you
can send via email to our graphics
department or your service representative.
If edits are needed on our part
we will either have to have
you do them or you will need
to send us an unflattened file.
